Hosts File

Hosts File is an operating system file that maps hostnames to IP addresses. It is a plain text file and functions as a name resolution mechanism. Whenever a computer first looks for the host file to resolve the name. In case the domain name is not mentioned in the host file, it looks for it in DNS.but, many systems implement name service switches such us nsswitch.conf for Linux and Unix, to provide customization
