The database was liked by the by Vistaprint that exposed the customer details

{{postValue.id}}

Oliver Hough is a security researcher who found an encrypted database that does not have any password it just like that allowed everyone to access the data inside. This data on the internet is from the online printing giant Vistaprint. Once the security lapse was detected Houghtweeted in a way to warn the Vistaprint company that is owned by the Netherlands-based parent Cimpress.

After this tweet, the company took the database offline later the company is carrying out a full investigation to understand what happened and how to prevent any future recurrence.

The database that was free to access on the internet had almost 51,000 customer service interactions, such as calls to customer service or chats with an online support agent. Not only this the data also had 51,000 customer service interactions, such as calls to customer service or chats with an online support agent. There were five tables, one contains the incoming customer queries.

The incoming customer queries contain the customer’s name, email address, phone number, and the date and time of their interaction with customer service. Another table contains chats customers’ line-by-line online chat interactions with support agents.

Even now the company is unable to identify the reason behind the exposed data that is left online without a password. It is definitely a security lapse involving lax internal data controls. Hough the security researcher said that the liked database was named as migration and currently the database is not sending or receiving data.
