To Monitor Bandwidth Usages in Nethserver by using ntopng

ntopng is a software tool for monitoring traffic on a computer network. It is an open-source software released under the GNU General Public License (GPLv3) for software.It depends on the Redis key-value server, supports geolocation of hosts, and displays real-time flow analysis. In this article we are going to show how to monitor bandwidth in Nethserver by using ntopng tool.

To Access Nethserver

Login into Nethserver, using the login credentials.

Go to the software center menu.

Select the Bandwidth monitor package and click Add option.

Click Apply changes.

The ntopng bandwidth package installation commences.

Choose the Bandwidth monitor menu. Enable ntopng and enter the interface port. Click the url to open the ntopng login page.

Enter the default user name and password.
Welcome page

The home page of ntopng page appears. The graphical representation of bandwith usage can be viewed here. It updates automatically for every 5 seconds.

If you want view the individual host bandwidth details, click host tab and select hosts.

Now click the settings menu and choose the manage user options.

To add new user. Set the username, password, assign the role and give the allowable network access for that user.
