How to install VMware ESXi server

VMware ESXi server is a type-1 hypervisor and it can be installed on a bare metal. On top of the ESXi server even virtual machines can be created. This tutorial shows you how to install VMware using ESXi server.

Installation procedure

To start the installation procedure, first download the ESXi server ISO image from the VMware official site. And make it bootable to Pendrive or DVD and boot it to the system.

The installation screen appears as follows.

Select the ESXi standard installer. The esxi installer loads for a short period of time.

Press F11 to Accept and Continue the license agreement.

Next select the storage device and continue.

Select the keyboard layout.

Enter a root password for the server.

Press F11 to start the ESXi server installation.

The installation will progress for a period of time.

Once the installation is completed, reboot the server.

The ESXi server is booted and ready to use.

Now press F2 to customize the system.

Set the IP address for the ESXi server and select the Configure management network.

Select IPV4 configuration and enter the details.

Enter your ip address,subnet mask and default gateway and press ok to continue.

Next press y to save the changes and restart the management network.

Now enter the IP address is set for the ESXi server.

Open a web browser and navigate to 192.168.7.253 it leads to VMware ESXi web console.

Enter the root user credentials in the login page.

It will be successfully logged into the ESXi host.
