To install Slack 3.1.1 on Ubuntu 18.04

Slack is a Cloud-based software that provides a team collaboration tool and services, founded by Stewart Butterfield. Slack offers a lot of IRC-like (Internet Relay Chat) features such as persistent chat room channel organized by topic. Slack can be searchable including files, conversation, and people. It' s having a major integration include services such as Google Drive, DropBox, IBM Bluemix.

Installing Slack 3.1.1

Let' s start with updating the system repo package by making use of the following.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get update

And then once it is done, we have to install a snap as we are going to install a slack using the snap.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get install snap

Make use of the following command to install slack using the snap.

root@linuxhelp1:~# snap install slack --classic
slack 3.1.1 from ' slack'  installed

Now that Slack has been installed, and you can access it by searching it from the search field.
search_menu

After the application is launched you have to sign in to continue. If you don' t have an account you need to create one.
sign-in

Create a new workspace with an email ID.
email

Enter the confirmation code which is sent to the mail id which you used to register.
confirm_code

Setup a profile and password to access.
choose_name

set_password

Set up all the details about your profile like team name and company name.
detail_

give_company_name

After making all configurations complete the workspace creation by clicking on create a workspace.
show_worksapce

Also, agree to the terms and condition.
agree

Now the slack application is launched and you can start working.
open_slack

In order to check the version installed to check the help menu from the menu bar.
