To install Ostorybook in Ubuntu

Ostorybook is a most popular novel-writing application for Linux based desktops. It enables the users to write and manage their novels in an efficient manner. Ostorybook is featured with several tools and intuitive interface to add characters, locations, scenes, items, tags and ideas. Installation of oStorybook in Ubuntu is explained in this article.

Installation of Ostorybook

Download and add the key file for installing Ostorybook with the " wget" command.

root@linuxhelp:~# wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
OK

Next you need to add the repo file on the apt source.

root@linuxhelp:~# sh -c ' echo " deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu vivid-getdeb apps"  > >  /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list' 

Next update the apt source by using “ apt-get update” command

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get update

Now its time to install the ostorybook with the " apt-get install" command.

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get install ostorybook

Enter Ostorybook in the terminal to enjoy the installed application.

At first you need to select your language and then click on “ OK” .

Homepage of Ostorybook utility will appear as shown below.

Click on new file icon to open new page.

Ostorybook_new_page

Set your file name and file path and click on “ OK” .

Ostorybook_create_new_file

Create your own story with the help of advanced tools option.

Why should I split my large project into parts?

Because you'll lose the overview if you have 100 scenes or even more in the same part. Furthermore the more scenes you have in a part, the slower the program will be. It doesn't matter whether the final book is split into parts or not. It is recommended to have not more than 50 scenes in a single part.
