To install Kodi 17.04 on Ubuntu16.04

Kodi, formerly known as XBMC, is a free, open source and cross platform media player. Its primarily used as a front-end for many home theater PCs. You can play and view almost all streaming media, such as videos, music, podcasts, and videos from the internet, as well as all common digital media files from local and network storage media. It is so simple to install Kodi 17.04 on Ubuntu and this article sheds light on it.


Installing Kodi

It is essential to install the repository before the installation of Kodi package.

root@linuxhelp:~# add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa

All is set for the installation of Kodi. Run the following command for the same purpose.

root@linuxhelp:~# apt install kodi

After installing, go to Ubuntu dashboard search bar and type kodi. The application icon gets displayed on your screen click on it to launch it.
