To install Amarok &ndash 2.9.0 on Ubuntu &ndash 18.04

Amarok is a free and open-source cross-platform music player. Although Amarok is developed under the KDE project, it is released independently of the central KDE Software Compilation release cycle. Amarok is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2. It is simple to install Amarok and this tutorial covers the ground in the same process.

Installing Amarok &ndash 2.9.0

Let us first start with updating the system repository as follows.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get update

Amarok is available in default ubuntu repository on ubuntu 18.04 so you can directly start installing using the following command.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get install Amarok

  apache2-bin apache2-data apache2-utils libapr1 libaprutil1 libaprutil1-dbd-sqlite3

Use ' sudo apt autoremove'  to remove them.

After installing an application, you can access the application from the Ubuntu search menu.
open_from_menu

The Amarok application is launched now as you can see from the below image

In order to check the version, navigate to the help menu and click on about option.
