configuring Thunderbird to connect With Zimbra mailbox

Thunderbird is a free and open source cross platform email client, news client and chat client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. This tutorial covers the installation procedure of configure the Thunderbird to connect to your Zimbra mailbox.

Installation

Launch Thunderbird :

Install Thunderbird application.Click Yes, On the Mozilla Thunderbird Setup click next. 1 Choose Custom Option and click next. 2 Select Destination folder and click next. 3 Click on maintenance server and click next. 4 Click next once again. 5 Click on the Install button. 6 Once the installation is completed, Click on Finish and launch the Thunderbird. 7 8

Set up an Account:

In order to setup an account, attach your existing mail account. 9 10

Enter the following on the Mail Account Setup window:

Your name: enter your full name.

Email address: enter your zimbra mail address.

Password: enter your zimbra mail password.

Click on the Continue button and continuously click on the Manual config button. 12

Configuration:

Enter the following

Incoming: IMAP

Incoming Server hostname: example.test.co

Select Port Number: 143 and Connection security: STARTTLS

Authentication : select Normal password

Outgoing: SMTP

Outgoing Server hostname:example.test.co

Select Port Number : 25 and Connection security: STARTTLS

Authentication : select Normal password

Click on the Done button. 13

Here open pop up in Add security exception, so now click on confirm security exception button. 14

Click on the Get Mail button to retrieve your email messages. 15

How to add another mail account in thunderbird:

Select Local Folders,Then click on right click and then click on open in New Window.Now you can connect new account. 16

How to remove my zimbra account in thunderbird:

Select your account then click on right click button. Then click on setting 17 Click on Account Actions, Here click on Remove account it will be remove your account. 18 19 With this, the method to configure Thunderbird to connect to your Zimbra mailbox to an end
